"Dazzling and disturbing, Marinetti's 'great fire-brand novel' recounts the erotic and exotic exploits of the warlord Mafarka in a torrid and highly stylised North Africa. When the novel was first published, it was banned for obscenity."
Translated into Russian by Vadim Shershenevich and published by him in a small Moscow publishing house in 1916, this book was not republished in Russia for exactly one hundred years, becoming a bibliographic rarity. The current edition completely reproduces the Russian text by Shershenevich and makes up for the cuts he made for censorship reasons.
